Position: Publications Writer
Pfizer is a leading pharmaceutical company dedicated to improving health and well-being around the world. We are seeking a Publications Writer to join our Global Medical Affairs team. This role involves developing various types of technical and medical documents, adhering to publication policies, and providing support to cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Content Development
- Develop abstracts, posters, manuscripts, congress presentations, and slide decks as per business needs
- Perform data mining and coordinate with cross-functional teams for document requirements
- Ensure accurate representation of data and adherence to publication and company policies
- Update projects using trackers and presentations
- Train on developing plain language summaries for manuscripts
Team Collaboration
- Attend publications group meetings and provide status updates to cross-functional teams
- Participate in publications subcommittee to plan and implement publication strategies
- Support scientific activities at congresses including material development and reports
- Provide support to the Medical Affairs group including literature reviews and slide deck preparation
Publication Support
- Support core Global Medical Product Evaluation tasks
- Provide manuscript writing and quality checking for technical and medical information
- Create slides, abstracts, training materials, and style guides
- Maintain relationships with cross-functional teams through engagement in publication activities
- Perform publication tracking using tools such as Datavision
Required Skill Set
Technical
- Excellent scientific writing skills
- Ability to interpret and summarize complicated data effectively
- Strong fluency in written and spoken English
- Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Proficiency in software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and reference management tools
- Good understanding of statistical principles in medical research
Managerial
- Reporting to the Senior Manager, Medical Writing – GMAIST Pubs COE
- Working closely with Publications Specialist, Global Medical Affairs Leads, and Publication coordinators
- Interacting with Medical Affairs colleagues at local, regional, and global levels
Education and Experience
- Post-graduate/Doctorate degree in life sciences, Pharmacy, or Medical sciences or equivalent degrees
- 3 to 6 years relevant experience for medical graduates/PhDs, more than 6 years for masters in life sciences
- Minimum 3 years of publication writing experience in academic settings or communications experience within an agency, CRO, or Pharma/Biotech Company
- Prior experience in using search tools, developing search strings, and assessing search results and data analysis is preferred
- Expertise in drafting plain language summaries and ISMPP-CMPP® certified writers preferred
