Job Description:

As a Project Associate I – Computational Biology, you will work within the Rice Breeding Innovations Platform-South Asia Region at IRRI. Your main responsibility will be to implement computational strategies in order to enhance resistance against pests and emerging rice diseases. This role requires close collaboration with IRRI-NARES partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct haplotype diversity analysis and identify superior haplotypes for different traits.
2. Perform next-generation sequencing analysis, specializing in whole genome resequencing and transcriptome data analysis.
3. Demonstrate expertise in evolutionary analysis with a proven track record of publications.
4. Analyze various genomic data sets, including transcriptomics, resequencing, genome annotation, and metagenomics.
5. Run software and scripts while maintaining accurate records.
6. Design, execute, and interpret experiments to provide recommendations for product development strategies.

Requirements:

1. Master’s degree in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology from a recognized research institute/university.
2. Proven ability to implement Genome Analysis Toolbox (GAB) for crop improvement.
3. Proficiency in running software and scripts.
4. Minimum experience of 0-3 years.
