Here are some interview questions with answers related to the job role of Senior Research Investigator at Syngene:

1. Can you describe your experience in designing and executing multicolour flow cytometry assays for drug discovery and clinical development? Answer: During my previous roles in both industry and academia, I have gained extensive experience in designing and executing high order multicolor flow cytometry assays. I have worked on diverse flow cytometer instruments and have a strong track record of delivering projects within tight timelines. My expertise in immunology, cell biology, and oncology has allowed me to interpret data effectively, which has contributed to a successful publication record. Additionally, I am familiar with third-party flow cytometry data analysis software like FlowJo and FCS Express, which further enhances my capabilities in this field.

2. How do you approach the validation and development of new flow cytometry assays for clinical sample analysis? Answer: Validating and developing new flow cytometry assays requires a systematic approach. I begin by thoroughly understanding the project requirements and collaborating with program leads to ensure alignment. Then, I design the assays at the lab bench, keeping in mind the specific clinical sample types and objectives. During the development process, I carefully optimize the assay conditions, and once established, I perform validation experiments to ensure accuracy and reproducibility. Regular maintenance and calibration of flow cytometers are essential to maintain data integrity and consistency throughout the analysis.

3. In this role, you will be leading a team of scientists. How do you plan to manage and motivate your team effectively? Answer: As a team leader, I believe in fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. My approach includes providing clear goals and expectations to team members and encouraging open communication. Recognizing and appreciating their efforts will be essential to keep the team motivated and engaged. Additionally, I will lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a passion for scientific research.

4. Can you share an example of a challenging project you worked on involving flow cytometry, and how you successfully managed to deliver results within tight timelines? Answer: Certainly! In my previous role, I was involved in a time-sensitive drug discovery project that required the development of a novel multicolor flow cytometry assay. The project demanded quick decision-making and adaptability to changing requirements. To meet the tight timelines, I formed a highly efficient team, dividing tasks based on individual strengths and expertise. We adopted a collaborative approach, where frequent meetings and open discussions allowed us to address challenges promptly. I personally ensured that all instruments were well-calibrated and maintained to minimize any technical issues. Thanks to our concerted efforts, we successfully delivered accurate and reproducible results, contributing to the project’s advancement and subsequent publication in a reputable journal.
