Interview for the recruitment in Project Associate I position in Dr. Rituparna Sinha Roy’s lab

A position for Project Associate I is available in the research group of Dr. Rituparna Sinha Roy, Associate Professor, Dept. of Biological Sciences, IISER Kolkata. The duty involves extensive work on manual solid phase peptide synthesis and characterization, biophysical work, cell based work and in vivo work.

Tenure: Nine months, it can be extended based on the terms and condition of the project and the performance of the candidate.

Conditions: The decision of the selection committee will be final. The selected candidate may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of tenure, if performance till date is not deemed satisfactory.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Biotechnology/Industrial Biotechnology/ Microbiology /Zoology and Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Zoology from any UGC recognized University. Candidate needs to have Chemistry as one of the pass subjects. Candidates need to be either GATE qualified/NET-LS and have at least 2 years’ research experience in a good national lab.

Desirable qualification: Prior two year’s experience in solid phase peptide synthesis, biophysical characterization of biomolecules, cell based work and in vivo work (zebrafish/mice/rabbit) are preferred. It will be better if the candidate has publications, including one first author/shared first author publication.

Remuneration: Rs. 31,000+24 % HRA = Rs. 31000+Rs. 7440 = Rs. 38440 (consolidated)

Additionally, I have conducted in vivo experiments using zebrafish/mice/rabbit models to study the effects of certain compounds or therapies. I am familiar with the ethical considerations and protocols associated with conducting animal experiments.
  4. Question: Have you published any research papers? Can you highlight your contributions as a first author or shared first author? Answer: Yes, I have published research papers in reputable scientific journals. As a first author/shared first author, I have made significant contributions to the experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results. These publications demonstrate my ability to conduct independent research and contribute to the scientific community.
  5. Question: How would you manage your time and prioritize tasks in a research project with tight deadlines? Answer: When faced with tight deadlines, I believe in effective time management and prioritization. I would create a detailed work plan, breaking down the project into smaller tasks with specific deadlines. By assessing the urgency and importance of each task, I can prioritize accordingly. I am also adaptable and open to adjusting my plans if unforeseen challenges arise during the project.
