ONLINE INTERVIEW for the recruitment of JRF-one post (26th May, 2023)

DBT funded Project entitled, “Exploring nutraceutical potential of shiitake (Lentinula edodes) and Maitake (Grifola frondosa) mushrooms and promotion of its production for entrepreneurial and socioeconomic livelihood in North East India”.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. Age limit: 35 years (Age relaxation of 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST/ and women candidate as per govt. guidelines).
  2. The total duration of project is 2 years and the positions are purely temporary on contractual basis and co-terminus with the project. The renewal of yearly contract is subjected to the satisfactory performance.
  3. The CV with full particulars i.e. qualifications, experience, NOC from the previous employer/experience certificate, publications etc. along with original/attested copies of the certificates must reach to the given email before 15th May, 2023.
  4. Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for online interview and the details will be shared accordingly for online interview on 26th May, 2023.
  5. Concealing of facts or canvassing in any form shall lead to disqualification or termination.

Essential Qualifications: M. Sc. with specialization in Biochemistry/ Chemistry/Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, with NET/GATE or equivalent qualified.

Desirable: Experience in bioactive characterization and animal cell culture

Emoluments per month: Rs. 31000/- + 24% HRA per month for 1st & 2nd year; and 35000/- + 24% HRA for 3 rd year

Answer: I have completed my M.Sc. in Biochemistry, and during my studies, I focused on courses and research projects related to biochemistry, chemistry, and plant molecular biology. I also have experience in conducting bioactive characterization and working with animal cell culture.
  2. Have you obtained any national-level qualifying exams such as NET/GATE in your field? How has this qualification helped you in your research career? Answer: Yes, I have qualified the NET/GATE exam in my field. This qualification has been instrumental in providing me with a strong foundation in my area of expertise and has opened up opportunities for research fellowships and positions like this JRF role.
  3. Can you discuss your understanding of the nutraceutical potential of shiitake and Maitake mushrooms? What do you find intriguing about their potential for entrepreneurial and socioeconomic livelihood in North East India? Answer: Shiitake and Maitake mushrooms have gained attention due to their potential health benefits and nutritional value. They contain bioactive compounds that have shown promising effects on human health. Exploring their nutraceutical potential can lead to the development of functional food products and promote entrepreneurship and socioeconomic development, particularly in North East India where these mushrooms are abundant.
  4. Share your experience with conducting bioactive characterization. How have you applied this knowledge in your previous research or academic projects? Answer: In my previous research projects, I have performed bioactive characterization techniques such as chromatography, spectrophotometry, and molecular biology assays to identify and analyze bioactive compounds present in natural products. I have utilized this knowledge to understand the molecular mechanisms and potential applications of these bioactive compounds in different contexts.
  5. How comfortable are you working with animal cell culture? Can you provide examples of your experience in this area? Answer: I have experience in working with animal cell culture techniques, including cell line maintenance, subculturing, and performing assays. For instance, during my master’s thesis, I worked with mammalian cell lines to study the effects of certain compounds on cell viability and signaling pathways. I am comfortable and familiar with the protocols and best practices associated with animal cell culture.
