1. Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The institute is an integral part of the interdisciplinary NCR Biotech Science Cluster located at Faridabad, and is designed as a dynamic, interactive organization with the mission to conduct innovative translational research and to develop research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into products to improve human health.
2. THSTI has established various centres namely (a) Centre for Maternal and Child Health, (b) Centre for Viral Therapeutics and Vaccines (c) Centre for Tuberculosis Research (d) Centre for Microbial Research, (e) Centre for Immunobiology and Immunotherapy (f) Centre for Drug Discovery (g) Clinical Development Services Agency (h) Computational and Mathematical Biology Centre (i) Centre for Bio-design and Diagnostics. These centres are strengthened by many core facilities viz. Bioassay Laboratory, Biorepository, Biosafety Level – 3 Lab, Data Management Centre, Immunology Core laboratory, Multi-OMICS facility, Experimental Animal Facility, Vaccine design and Development facility, School of Innovation in Biodesign, etc. that serve as huge resources for the research programmes of THSTI and also the National Capital Region Biotech Science Cluster and other academic and industrial partners.
3. Applications are invited for the THSTI – JNU Ph.D. Program under Biomedical Research. The Ph.D. Program at THSTI is governed by JNU rules. For further details please visit www.jnu.ac.in.

Criteria for Group – A (With Fellowship):

A. Education Eligibility:

The candidate must fulfil the following criteria:

1. Should have a Master’s degree in any branch of Biomedical/Life Sciences (including Veterinary Science, Public Health, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences)/Bioinformatics/Chemistry/Physics/Computer Science or Mathematics/M. Pharma from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or its equivalent (e.g.: grade B in the UGC 7-point scale) OR B.E./B. Tech (Computer Science/Biotechnology/Biomedical Engineering/Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical Engineering)/B. Pharma from a recognized university with at least 55% marks.
2. The candidate must have qualified any of the national level examinations mentioned below:

• • JRF examination of CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT (category – I only), NBHM, or AYUSHNET which provides fellowship for their Ph.D. Program.

Note: Candidates having AYUSH-NET fellowship will conduct research work in the fields related to AYUSH only.

B. Selection Procedure:

1. The shortlisted candidates will be called directly for the interview. The list of selected candidates will be published on the THSTI’s website tentatively by 27th December 2023.
2. Selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview. The tentative date of the interview will be 16th and 17th January 2024 at Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, NCR – BSC, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad – Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad – 121001.
3. Number of Seats: 9 (UR: 4; OBC: 2; SC: 1; ST: 1; EWS: 1)

Criteria for Group – B (Without Fellowship):

A. Education Eligibility:

1. The candidate must fulfill at least one of the following criteria:
   • Should have a Master’s degree in Pharmacology/Chemistry/Mathematics/Physics/M. Pharma from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or its equivalent (e.g.: grade – B in the UGC 7-point scale) OR B. Pharma from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or its equivalent (e.g.: grade – B in the UGC 7-point scale)
2. Desirable: Those who have cleared the level – I of DST-INSPIRE fellowship (only in Chemistry/Pharmacology/Mathematics domain)

B. Selection Procedure:

1. The list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the THSTI’s website tentatively by 27th December 2023. The shortlisted candidates will be called for the written exam tentatively on 13th January 2024 at Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, NCR – BSC, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad – Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad – 121001.
2. The candidates who will qualify the written exam will be called for the interview. Selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview. The tentative date of the interview will be 15th January 2024 at Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, NCR – BSC, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad – Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad – 121001.
3. Number of Seats: 2 (SC: 1; ST: 1)
4. Fellowship as per the institutional policy will be awarded to the selected students.

Important Dates:

• Last date for receipt of online application: 17th December 2023.
• The applications will be scrutinized/shortlisted and processed for further selection.

General Terms & Conditions:

a) Candidates appearing in the final qualifying examination may also apply. However, they will be required to show their original documents for essential educational qualification at the time of interview/written exam of the Ph.D. Program.

b) A relaxation in marks/grade during Master’s Degree for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled or any other category will be applicable as per the UGC notification 2016 or subsequent notification in effect at the time of interview.

c) Reservations: Reservation policy will be followed as per Government of India norms. SC/ST/OBC candidates are required to submit certificates in respect of their claims from authorized officers as notified by the Government for the purpose from time to time. The differently-abled (with a minimum 40% disability) candidates are required to submit a certificate from authorized Medical Doctors/Hospitals indicating the extent of physical disability.

d) Academic program: Selected students will have to undergo Ph.D. course work for 2 semesters. Those having successfully completed the Ph.D. course work requirement will be recommended to JNU for Ph.D. registration. For the award of the doctoral degree, the candidate will have to complete all the requirements as per the JNU rules.

e) Fees: Admission fees, annual fees, registration fees, or any other fees levied by JNU shall be payable by the student.

f) Hostel: Selected students will have the option of shared hostel accommodation in lieu of their HRA.

1. Documents to be kept handy before filling up the online application (all the documents except (i) should be in pdf format):
   • A soft copy of your passport size photo and signature. (jpeg/jpg/png format)
   • A comprehensive CV containing details of qualification/distinctions, etc.
   • Matriculation certificate (equivalent to 10th Standard)/Mark sheet
   • Intermediate certificate (equivalent to 12th Standard)/Mark sheet
   • Graduation/Diploma degree certificate/Mark sheet
   • Post-Graduation degree certificate & Mark sheet (if applicable)
   • Caste/Disability certificate in the format prescribed by the Govt. of India, if applicable
2. Procedure for filling up the online application:
   • The eligible and interested candidates may apply online at the Institute’s website https://thsti.in/application/jobs.php. Applications through any other mode will not be accepted.
   • The payment can be made by using Debit Card/Credit Card/Internet Banking/UPI.
   • Once payment is made, no correction/modification is possible.
   • Candidates are requested to keep a copy of the provisional receipt for future reference.
   • Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

1. Submission of application form:
   • On successful submission of the application, an auto-generated email containing the reference number will be sent to the email address provided. Please keep a note of the reference number for future correspondence.
   • Candidates are required to keep a printout of the online application form by using the print button on the dashboard for future reference.
   • Candidates must ensure that he/she fulfills all the eligibility criteria as stipulated in the advertisement. If it is found that he/she does not fulfill the stipulated criteria during the admission process, the candidature of the candidate will be canceled. If the same is noticed after the appointment, the candidate will be terminated following due process.
   • Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected, and no correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
