Job Post: Consultant – Bio Informatician

As a Consultant – Bio Informatician, you will be part of a dedicated and technical team working on innovative informatics solutions in the drug discovery clinical trial phase. Accountabilities
- Collaborate closely with scientific colleagues across AstraZeneca genomics units to meet the informatics and advanced analytics needs.
- Develop informatics solutions using pipelining approaches, scripting, and algorithm development.
- Contribute to Genomics drug projects with downstream analysis and data analytics.
- Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning to biology informatics.
- Stay updated with the latest methods and tools by researching external peers, academics, and software providers.
- Collaborate with data scientists, machine learning, engineering, and platform teams to deliver scientific insights.
- Work with informatics colleagues in our Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Chennai to deliver high-quality informatics solutions.
- Promote AstraZeneca’s informatics and data science reputation through external publications and presentations.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Masters/PhD in biological sciences, biological engineering, bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Demonstrable record of informatics delivery in a pharmaceutical/biotech setting.
- Strong coding and software engineering skills (Python, R, Scripting).
- Experience in multi-omics data analysis.
- Experience in single-cell and CRISPR data analysis.
- Familiarity with tools and databases like NCBI, PubMED, UCSC genome databrowser, bedtools, samtools, Picard, and visualization tools such as Spotfire.
- Experience with high-performance clusters like HPC or SCP.
- Knowledge of cloud environments and related technologies.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex methods and techniques to a non-technical audience.
- Proficiency in English communication, both written and verbal.
