Subject: Internship starting in the month of January 2024 under Internship Scheme 2021 at Food Safety and Standards Authority of India

  1. Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a statutory body established under the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 under the aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It is the apex body responsible for ensuring food safety and compliance with food standards across the country. FSSAI’s internship program will provide interns with unique learning
    opportunities in various areas of food regulation and food safety administration.
  2. Eligibility Criteria:Students pursuing a full-time Graduate/Post Graduate Degree/higher degree from a Recognized Institute within India/abroad, in any of the following:
    • Pursuing Post Graduate Degree/B.Tech/BE from a recognized University or Institution in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Science & Technology, Food & Nutrition, Edible Oil Technology, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, Agricultural or Horticultural Sciences, Industrial Microbiology, Toxicology, Public Health, Life Science, Biotechnology, Fruit & Vegetable Technology, or Food Safety & Quality Assurance.
    • Business Administration & Management, including policy regulation and related fields – Only at FSSAI (HQ).
    • PG Diploma/Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, and Public Relations.
    • B.E./B. Tech (Only 3 and 4 Year students, not for 2 or 1 Year) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related Stream.
    • Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Public Policy, Public Administration – Only for FSSAI (HQ).
    • Bachelor/Master of Law – Only for FSSAI (HQ).


    Note:

    1. All students who have completed their above-mentioned courses need not apply.
    2. Multiple applications will not be entertained.
    3. Candidates must ensure that the chosen place for the internship has the subject/topic available. In the case of the FSSAI lab, only technically qualified candidates will be eligible.

  3. Tenure:Internship will be available throughout the year at different points in time, offered for a minimum duration of 02 months, extendable to a maximum period of 06 months. No internships of less than two months will be offered, and no applications for less than two months will be entertained.
  4. Place of Internship and Area/Domain available for internship: FSSAI Internship January 2024
  5. Working Space:Interns are required to have their own laptops. FSSAI will provide working space, internet facilities, and other necessities but will not cover local lodging and travel facilities. FSSAI will not bear the expenses of any boarding.

6. Application Process:

(a) Submission of Online Applications:

  • Interested and eligible students are invited to submit their applications online in the specified format. It is imperative to adhere to the timelines outlined by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
  • Students who have previously applied for internships in past months must submit a fresh application to be considered for the current internship period.

(b) Selection Criteria:

  • Shortlisted candidates may be required to prepare and submit a short write-up or presentation as part of the final selection process.

(c) Announcement of Selected Candidates:

  • The final list of selected candidates, along with details such as their date of joining and internship tenure, will be published on the FSSAI website. This information will be made available by the respective FSSAI office corresponding to the chosen internship location.

Application Timeline:

  • Commencement of Application Submission: December 8, 2023
  • Closing Date for Online Applications: 14th Dec 2023
  • Announcement of Shortlisted Candidates: Third/Fourth week of December 2023
  • Date of Joining for Selected Candidates: January 1, 2024

(d) Upon joining, Interns must present a letter from their Institute affirming their student status and a “No Objection Certificate” permitting participation in the Internship Program for the selected period, if applicable. Additionally, submission of a character certificate from the Institute’s authority and evidence of educational qualifications as specified in the application form is mandatory at the commencement of the internship.

(e) As the Internship scheme is scheduled quarterly throughout the year, any request for extending the joining time by interns beyond one week will not be entertained.

  1. Assignments: Interns will be assigned to various Divisions at FSSAI (HQ)/ROs/Labs based on their academic and technical training. They will undertake projects related to diverse aspects of Food and Nutrition Management Processes.
  2. Stipend: Deserving Interns, recommended by the Office/Division to which they are attached at FSSAI (HQ)/Regional Offices/Laboratories, will receive a stipend of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) for the internship period. The criteria for deserving interns will be determined based on their (a) attendance, (b) assessment by their respective reporting officers; and (c) evaluation of the report by the Committee.

Please ensure that all interested candidates closely follow the provided timeline and adhere to the application guidelines. The selected candidates are encouraged to check the FSSAI website for updates and further instructions regarding their internship.

9. Certificate:

All the interns will be awarded a certificate by Human Resource Division, FSSAI (HQ) on successful completion of the internship i.e. on submission, review of final report/presentation and recommendation by the Project Evaluation Committee.
